Maison Guigal | Ermitage "Ex-Voto" - White

Ex-Voto is Guigal's white Hermitage, made only in exceptional years. Guigal uses the old spelling Ermitage, after the chapel on top of the hill where a wounded knight is said to have retired to live as a hermit.

Tasting Notes
The opulence of stone fruit, honey and hazelnut, leading to a rich, layered palate that celebrates the terroir of Hermitage. Marsanne and Roussanne from the granite hill above Tain produce one of the longest lived white wines in France, a wine that is broad and waxy in youth, closes up for years, and emerges with extraordinary depth. Not a wine to open casually.

About the Producer
E. Guigal was founded in Ampuis in the northern Rhône in 1946 and is the most important name in Côte-Rôtie, best known for the single vineyard wines La Mouline, La Landonne and La Turque. The house is still family run and produces wines across the Rhône, from everyday Côtes du Rhône to the rare Ex-Voto bottlings from Hermitage.
