Château Calon Ségur | Saint-Estèphe

The heart on the Calon Ségur label comes from the Marquis de Ségur, who owned Lafite and Latour as well and reportedly said that he made his wine at Lafite and Latour but his heart was at Calon.

Tasting Notes
A deep garnet robe. An aromatic range of cassis, violets and hints of tobacco. On the palate, rich black fruit seamlessly interwoven with graphite minerality and polished tannins, culminating in an elegant and enduring finish. Saint-Estèphe is the northernmost of the great Médoc communes, with more clay in its soil than its neighbours, which gives its wines a firmer, sturdier character and a reputation for needing time.

About the Producer
Château Calon Ségur is one of the leading estates of Saint-Estèphe, classified a third growth in 1855, and among the oldest properties in the Médoc. Its label carries a heart, after the Marquis de Ségur, an 18th century owner who also held Lafite and Latour and declared his affection for Calon above both.
