Tasting Notes
Rich and velvety, revealing layers of black fruit, truffle and floral hints, culminating in a luxurious palate. Merlot from the clay and gravel of the Pomerol plateau gives extraordinary density and a plush texture, while the Cabernet Franc adds perfume and keeps the wine from becoming merely rich. Pomerol has no classification system, which is why the wines here are judged purely on what is in the glass.

About the Producer
Château L'Évangile is one of the leading estates of Pomerol, sitting on the plateau between Pétrus and, across the boundary in Saint-Émilion, Cheval Blanc. The property was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, owners of Château Lafite, in 1990. Pomerol has never been formally classified, so its hierarchy is set entirely by reputation and price.
