Rich is Champagne made deliberately sweet so that it can be mixed. The higher dosage is not a compromise but the design: it holds up when poured over ice with cucumber, grapefruit zest or pineapple, where a brut would simply disappear.
Tasting Notes
Radiant golden yellow with lively, fine bubbles. Notes of ripe stone fruit, honey, candied citrus and hints of pineapple and mango. Full bodied and indulgent on the palate, layers of tropical fruit, cream and citrus zest unfolding into a smooth, lightly sweet finish with the freshness the house is known for. Demi-sec was once the standard style of Champagne, so this is less of an innovation than a return.

About the Producer
Veuve Clicquot takes its name from Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, widowed at 27 in 1805 and left to run the house alone at a time when almost no women ran businesses in France. She invented the riddling table, the method still used to clarify Champagne today, and produced the first known blended rosé Champagne in 1818. The house was founded in 1772.
