The whisky that pioneered the art of cask finishing. First launched in 1993 by Malt Master David C. Stewart, The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Years is matured in traditional American oak whisky casks before being transferred to European oak Oloroso sherry casks for a second maturation. The whisky is then married in large oak tuns, allowing the flavors to harmonize and develop.
The American oak brings a soft foundation of vanilla and honey, while the sherry casks add layers of dried fruit, warm spice and nuttiness. The result is a beautifully balanced single malt with depth, richness and a long, warming finish.

Tasting Notes
Rich and inviting on the nose, with sweet fruit, honey, warm spice and delicate nuttiness. The palate is smooth and well-rounded, bringing together notes of honeyed sultanas, dried fruit, vanilla and cinnamon, with subtle nutmeg and gentle oak spice. The sherry influence adds depth while the traditional oak keeps the whisky soft and balanced.
Long, warming and satisfyingly smooth on the finish, with lingering notes of dried fruit, vanilla and gentle spice.
