Château d’Esclans | Whispering Angel Rosé

Whispering Angel is the wine that turned Provence rosé into a global category. Sacha Lichine bought Château d'Esclans in 2006 and set out to make pink wine that could be taken as seriously as white, and the market followed him.

Tasting Notes
Pale, delicate pink with luminous clarity. Red berries, citrus peel, white flowers and subtle mineral notes. Fresh and silky on the palate with strawberry, peach and citrus supported by clean acidity and a smooth, elegant finish. The pale colour is deliberate and comes from minimal skin contact, which is the house style across Provence.

About the Producer
Château d'Esclans sits in the hills above the Côtes de Provence and was bought in 2006 by Sacha Lichine, son of the Bordeaux writer and négociant Alexis Lichine. His ambition was to make serious rosé rather than a summer afterthought, and the estate now produces a range rising from Whispering Angel through to the barrel-fermented Garrus.
