Description

Mersel LebNat PetNat Pink Rosé from the Lebanese mountains, a wonderful glou glou wine with a vibrant nose of pomegranate, strawberry, citrus and mountain herbs, made from Sangiovese grown at 700 metres and Merwah vines over 150 years old at 1,600 metres.

Tasting Notes
The winemaker's own note is "this wine is okay, try it." What is actually in the glass is a wonderful glou glou pét nat with a vibrant nose of pomegranate, strawberry, citrus and mountain herbs. Light, dry and gently sparkling, with the faint cloudiness and yeasty edge that come from finishing fermentation in bottle. Made in the ancestral method with no added sulphites.

Quick Facts

  • Grapes: 50% Sangiovese, 50% Merwah
  • Origin: Lebanon, Terboul Mountain at 700m and Qannboubine Valley at 1,600m
  • Style: Pétillant naturel rosé, natural wine, no added sulphites
  • Winemaking: Five days stabulation at 8°C, twenty day fermentation at 14°C, bottled at 3 PSI to finish fermentation in bottle, five months on lees, then disgorged
  • Vines: Merwah vines at Qannboubine are over 150 years old

Food Pairing
As an aperitif with anchovies and olives, with quiche Lorraine, or best of all with Lebanese mezze.

Serving
Serve at 8 to 10°C. Open carefully, natural sparkling wines can be lively.

About the Producer
