About this wine
Named after the Thursday (Thursday the 15th) when it was first made, Jeudi 15 is Anna Martens's biodynamic Etna Rosso from Nerello Mascalese and field blend grapes, fermented with 12 days of skin contact and aged a year on lees in a large foudre with zero sulphur.
Open 20 minutes before serving.
Tasting notes
Deep crimson. Floral and red fruit on the nose, showing red currant, cherry, and wild strawberry, with delicate savoury undertones and the mineral depth of volcanic soils. Medium bodied on the palate with firm acidity and fine tannins. A wine of real refinement for all that it comes from an active volcano.
Goes with
Salmon, Thai cuisine, fresh mushroom dishes, and grilled vegetables. Surprisingly versatile for a red. The high altitude acidity is the key.

The producer
Vino di Anna is the project of Anna Martens, an Australian winemaker who arrived on Mount Etna in 2007 and immediately fell in love with the ancient, ungrafted vines on the volcano's north face. Working biodynamically at altitudes between 760 and 1200 metres on pre-phylloxera volcanic soils, she produces wines of compelling purity and mineral depth. Her Palmentino wines take their name from the traditional Sicilian stone pressing troughs still found in the old cantinas of the mountain.
