Description

A Nero di Troia from Calcarius in Puglia — one of the region's most powerful indigenous red varieties, made on the calcareous limestone Murge plateau with minimal intervention and all the intensity the name promises.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby, almost opaque. Nero di Troia is Puglia's most tannic and structured indigenous red variety — here it delivers dark fruit, iron and mineral depth, firm tannins, and a very long, savoury finish. The name Brutal!!! is not a warning but a celebration of the grape's natural power. Valentina Passalacqua's hand is there in the freshness and precision — this is structure without brutality.

About the Producer
Calcarius is the natural wine project of Valentina Passalacqua, made from organic Falanghina, Nero di Troia, Bombino Bianco, and other indigenous varieties grown on the ancient calcareous limestone soils of the Murge plateau in northern Puglia. The estate name comes from the Latin for limestone, reflecting the character of the terroir in every wine.
