A Primitivo from Calcarius in Puglia, made with zero added sulphur on the calcareous limestone Murge plateau — dark, rich, and generous with the sun-drenched character of southern Italian Primitivo, made with the minimal intervention that defines the Calcarius approach.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby. Primitivo from the calcareous Murge plateau has a different character to the coastal versions — darker fruit, more mineral precision, and less of the jammy richness that gives the variety a mixed reputation. Dark cherry, dried herb, and earthy mineral depth on the nose. Full-bodied with grippy tannins and a long, savoury finish. Zero sulphur keeps it vibrant and alive.

About the Producer
Calcarius is the natural wine project of Valentina Passalacqua, made from organic Falanghina, Nero di Troia, Bombino Bianco, and other indigenous varieties grown on the ancient calcareous limestone soils of the Murge plateau in northern Puglia. The estate name comes from the Latin for limestone, reflecting the character of the terroir in every wine.
