Arak Blanka | Pottery Clay

Pottery Clay is one of three colours in Masterpiece, the porcelain vessel Arak Blanka designed as its first innovation. The clay tone nods to the terracotta jars Lebanese arak has rested in for centuries. Inside is the same premium artisanal arak the Bejjani family has made for three generations at ETS. Distillery, fermented from Obeidi grapes, flavoured with Heena aniseed and distilled through authentic copper stills. The vessel is meant to be kept long after the arak is finished.

Tasting Notes

Crystal clear, louching to milk white as water is added. Clean, precise aniseed with the softer and rounder character Heena seed brings, sitting over a base of Obeidi grape spirit that gives weight without any burn. Smooth and delicate through the middle, finishing long and warm with liquorice that lingers.

Serving

Traditionally poured one part arak to two parts water, then ice added last so the ice never touches neat spirit. Serve in small glasses, a fresh one with each pour, alongside mezze.
