Description

A biodynamic Cabernet Franc rosé from Catherine and Pierre Breton's Bourgueil vineyards, with the colour of a light red and the spirit of a picnic wine — thirst-quenching, primary fruit, zero pretension.

Tasting Notes
Rosé in name, more red in colour. The nose leads with young red cherry and raspberry. Tannins are discreet and the palate is lively and refreshing, with primary red fruit and a clean, thirst-quenching finish. The Bretons describe it as perfect for a picnic or returning to work after a long lunch, and they are not wrong.

Quick Facts

  • Grape: 100% Cabernet Franc
  • Origin: France, Loire Valley, Bourgueil (Restigné, Galuches alluvial soils)
  • Style: Dry rosé, organic and biodynamic, low sulphur
  • Winemaking: Manual harvest, pressed, indigenous yeast, fermented and matured in wooden Grenier tank, malolactic fermentation, small amount of sulphur at bottling
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans

Food Pairing
Fish, salads, picnics, and casual summer lunches. The kind of wine that makes simple food taste better.

Serving
Serve at 10-12°C, well chilled. A rosé that genuinely benefits from some time in the fridge.

About the Producer
Catherine and Pierre Breton are fifth-generation winemakers from Restigné, east of Bourgueil, with a family history on the land dating to 1886. Taking over the domaine in the late 1980s, they converted to organic farming in 1991 and were among the first Loire Valley producers to adopt biodynamic viticulture, beginning in 1994. Working 17 hectares across Bourgueil, Chinon, and Vouvray, they vinify using only indigenous yeasts, no chemical additives, and very low sulphur, producing wines that are deeply expressive of their specific terroir and built to age gracefully.
