About this wine
The benchmark Barolo from Cavallotto's legendary Bricco Boschis monopole in Castiglione Falletto, aged 3 years in Slavonian oak and representing the finest traditional expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barolo's most revered single-hill estates.
Decant for 1 to 2 hours minimum. Best enjoyed after at least 8 to 10 years from harvest.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby with garnet notes developing. The nose is rich and complex with aromas of dark cherry, dried rose, tar, leather, tobacco, violet, and a characteristic earthy Nebbiolo depth. On the palate it is full bodied with a firm, drying tannin, high natural acidity, and a long, persistent, mineral finish. Powerful yet elegant, traditional Barolo in the finest sense.

The producer
Cavallotto is a family estate that has owned the entire Bricco Boschis hill in Castiglione Falletto since 1928, making it one of Barolo's most celebrated monopoles. Three siblings, Alfio, Giuseppe, and Laura Cavallotto, now run the estate with the same traditional methods their parents used, farming organically, fermenting with indigenous yeasts, and ageing in large Slavonian oak botti rather than small French barrels. The first bottles under the Cavallotto label were produced in 1948, and the estate has been a standard-bearer for traditional, artisan Barolo ever since. Wines regularly receive scores in the high 90s from international critics.
