Cannubi is the most famous vineyard in Barolo and arguably the oldest named cru in Italy, a bottle labelled Cannubi from 1752 predating the modern appellation by two centuries. Its hill is where Barolo's two soil types meet, which is why the wine has both perfume and power.
Tasting Notes
An intense bouquet of roses, red fruit and a hint of tar, leading to a structured and powerful palate that defines the excellence of Barolo. Tar and roses is the classic descriptor for great Nebbiolo and Cannubi delivers both. The central position of the hill, where the older Serravallian soils of the west meet the younger Tortonian soils of the east, is generally credited with giving Cannubi wines their unusual balance of aromatic lift and structure.

About the Producer
Marchesi di Barolo is the historic house of the town of Barolo itself, descended from the estate of the Falletti family. Marchesa Giulia Falletti is widely credited with the creation of modern dry Barolo in the mid 19th century, and the cellars still stand opposite the family castle in the centre of the village.
