Tasting notes
Deep ruby-violet in the glass. The nose is expressive with aromas of dark plum, blackberry, violet, graphite, and a characteristic earthy, mineral note from the slate soils. On the palate it is medium to full bodied with a firm, structured tannin, good natural acidity, and a long, savoury, mineral finish. Mencia from Bierzo at its most honest and compelling.
Goes with
Excellent with roast pork, lamb, octopus a la gallega, and hearty northwest Spanish cuisine. Also a natural partner for grilled meats and aged cheeses.
