About this wine
Barolo from the commune of La Morra, generally the most perfumed and approachable of the eleven villages, made by a family estate working native Langhe grapes on land they have farmed for generations.
Decant at least an hour before pouring.
Tasting notes
Tobacco, camphor and rose petal aromas lead the nose. The firm, elegant palate offers cranberry, clove and white pepper alongside dusty tannins. Rose and tar is the classic Nebbiolo signature, and La Morra's soils tend to give more of the rose than the tar. Barolo from here opens earlier than from Serralunga or Monforte, without losing the structure that lets it age.
Goes with
Roast and braised meats, game, truffle dishes, and aged cheeses. Also a wine that stands on its own, poured into a large glass and given time.

The producer
Azienda Agricola Crissante Alessandria farms in the Langhe, working the native grapes of the region, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, on the hills around La Morra. The wines are aged in underground cellars and each vintage is allowed its own character rather than being made to a house formula.
