Description

A white field blend from Anna Martens's high-altitude Etna vineyards, blending Grecanico, Vigna Nave, and a range of indigenous white varieties from pre-phylloxera ungrafted vines — dry, crisp, citrus-driven, and with the unmistakable mineral salinity of volcanic soil.

Tasting Notes
Mid straw in colour with attractive citrus notes and white flowers on the nose. Dry, crisp, and fresh on the palate with lemon and grapefruit flavours and an underlying salty, mineral quality that comes directly from the volcanic soil. The Jeudi 15 (Thursday the 15th) white is the more restrained, linear sibling to the Palmentino Bianco.

Quick Facts

  • Grapes: 40% Grecanico, 40% Vigna Nave, 20% field blend (Carricante, Catarratto, Minnella Bianca, and others)
  • Origin: Italy, Sicily, Mount Etna (biodynamic, pre-phylloxera ungrafted vines)
  • Style: Dry natural white, zero added sulphur, unfiltered, unfined
  • Winemaking: Manual harvest, indigenous yeast, spontaneous malolactic, no filtration or fining, no added sulphur
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans

Food Pairing
Grilled fish, seafood, light pasta, and Thai-influenced dishes. The salinity and freshness make it excellent alongside anything from the sea.

Serving
Serve at 10-12°C. Open 10 minutes before serving.

About the Producer
Vino di Anna is the estate of Australian winemaker Anna Martens, who arrived on Mount Etna in 2007 and has since built one of the volcano's most revered natural wine labels. Working biodynamically on ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines at altitudes between 760 and 1200 metres on volcanic soils that no aphid has ever penetrated, she produces wines of extraordinary purity and place. Her wines are among the defining expressions of what Etna can do when left largely to its own devices.
