Description

A natural rosé from Valentina Passalacqua's Calcarius project in the Gargano National Park of northern Puglia, made from organically farmed Nero di Troia on ancient Kimmeridgian limestone soils, pale pink, vibrant, and dry with wild strawberry, watermelon, blood orange, and a characteristic saline mineral finish.

Tasting Notes
Pale pink with a natural haze from being unfiltered and unfined. Fresh and aromatic on the nose with wild strawberry, watermelon, blood orange, and crushed herbs. The palate is dry and zesty with bright red berry fruit, a crunchy texture, and a distinctive saline, mineral core from the Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Light-bodied but full of character, with a refreshing, clean finish. A rosé that earns its place at the table.

About the Producer
Calcarius is the natural wine project of Valentina Passalacqua, farming 80 hectares of organically certified vineyards inside the Gargano National Park in northern Puglia. The estate sits on Kimmeridgian limestone soils from the Jurassic era, the same soil type as Chablis, which gives every wine its characteristic mineral tension and salinity. Working with indigenous varieties including Nero di Troia, Falanghina, Bombino Bianco, Greco, and Aleatico, Valentina produces wines of precise, terroir-driven character with zero intervention in the cellar.
