Álvaro Palacios | Les Aubaguetes

Les Aubaguetes is one of the single vineyard bottlings from Álvaro Palacios in Priorat, old Garnacha and Cariñena on the black slate terraces that make this one of the most physically demanding places in Europe to grow grapes.

Tasting Notes
Intense black fruit, liquorice and mineral notes, offering a powerful and structured palate that mirrors the rugged landscape of Priorat. The llicorella slate soil holds almost no water and no organic matter, so yields are tiny and the wines come out concentrated and stony whether the winemaker wants them that way or not. Structured and serious, with real ageing potential.

About the Producer
Álvaro Palacios arrived in Priorat in 1989 as one of a small group of winemakers who rediscovered a region that had almost disappeared, and his wines from Gratallops did more than any others to establish it as one of the great appellations of Spain. He also runs Descendientes de J. Palacios in Bierzo and the family estate Palacios Remondo in Rioja.
