Lisbon's golden hour has a colour, and Per Se bottled it. This is the first aperitivo made entirely in Portugal, launched in 2019 and built from 24 botanicals that are distilled and macerated rather than simply blended. Within a few years of release it was named Best Aperitif in the World at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and took a Double Gold at the SIP Awards.
It belongs to Casa Redondo, the Portuguese family house approaching its centenary that also makes Licor Beirão, the number one spirit in the country. Per Se is their answer to the Italian aperitivo, and it is drier, more herbal and less sweet than the orange bottle you already know.

Tasting Notes
A bright, warm orange in the glass, the shade of a southern Portuguese sunset. Cardamom and orange zest lead the nose, with Jamaican pepper and Portuguese hops sitting behind them. The palate is light and citrus forward with a velvety weight and a gentle sweetness, closing on a measured bitterness that resets the palate rather than coating it. Complex in its ingredients, uncomplicated in the glass. At 14.5% it sits well below Campari and most vermouth, which means it stretches across a long afternoon instead of ending it.
