Description

Light, fruity, and irresistibly drinkable, Trinch is the Breton's everyday Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil, built for the table and bottled in spring while it still has all its youthful energy.

Tasting Notes

Clear ruby red in the glass. The nose is fresh with aromas of red fruits, bright cherry, and a subtle earthy note. On the palate it is light and fruity with red cherry flavours, lively acidity, and a good natural balance. The tannins are soft and the finish clean and refreshing. This is Cabernet Franc at its most approachable and honest.

Quick Facts

  • Grape: 100% Cabernet Franc (25 to 40-year-old vines)
  • Origin: France, Loire Valley, Bourgueil

  • Winemaking: Manual harvest, destemmed, 18-day cold maceration, indigenous yeast fermentation, aged in large 600L wooden foudres, no filtration, minimal sulphur at bottling

Food Pairing

A perfect match for tomato salads, mackerel dishes, white meats, and charcuterie. Light enough to serve slightly chilled on a warm evening.

About the Producer

Catherine and Pierre Breton are fifth-generation winemakers from Restigné, east of Bourgueil, with a family history on the land dating to 1886. Taking over the domaine in the late 1980s, they converted to organic farming in 1991 and were among the first Loire Valley producers to adopt biodynamic viticulture, beginning in 1994. Working 17 hectares across Bourgueil, Chinon, and Vouvray, they vinify using only indigenous yeasts, no chemical additives, and very low sulphur, producing wines that are deeply expressive of their specific terroir and built to age gracefully.
