Description

From 40-year-old biodynamic Chenin Blanc vines in Vouvray, this is a wine of true pleasure: soft texture, ripe stone fruit, wildflowers, and a stroke of mineral that makes it completely captivating.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow in the glass. The nose develops from aromas of pear and melon into citrus and pineapple, with honeycomb and a loving note of sweet blossom. On the palate the wine has a soft, almost silky texture, a streak of mineral, and notes of wildflowers throughout. Off-dry in style, the residual sugar beautifully balances the natural acidity from the clay and silex soils. A wine of real pleasure and terroir.

Quick Facts

  • Grape: 100% Chenin Blanc (40-year-old vines)
  • Origin: France, Loire Valley, Vouvray AOC
  • Style: Off-dry natural white, biodynamic, low sulphur
  • Winemaking: Manual harvest, gentle pressing, fermented in stainless steel for 4 months with indigenous yeast, light filtration, no fining, bottled in spring with a touch of residual sugar
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans

Food Pairing

An ideal aperitif, and excellent alongside shellfish, grilled fish, and local Loire Valley cheeses. The slight sweetness also makes it a lovely partner for dishes with a touch of spice.

Serving

Serve at 10-12°C. This wine evolves beautifully in the glass, so give it a few minutes to open up.

About the Producer

Catherine and Pierre Breton are fifth-generation winemakers from Restigné, east of Bourgueil, with a family history on the land dating to 1886. Taking over the domaine in the late 1980s, they converted to organic farming in 1991 and were among the first Loire Valley producers to adopt biodynamic viticulture, beginning in 1994. Working 17 hectares across Bourgueil, Chinon, and Vouvray, they vinify using only indigenous yeasts, no chemical additives, and very low sulphur, producing wines that are deeply expressive of their specific terroir and built to age gracefully.
