An organic Mencia from the ancient slate and schist vineyards of Bierzo in northwest Spain, made by Pittacum, one of the region's pioneering estates, producing a wine of dark fruit concentration, mineral depth, and the distinctive character of this underrated Atlantic appellation.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-violet in the glass. The nose is expressive with aromas of dark plum, blackberry, violet, graphite, and a characteristic earthy, mineral note from the slate soils. On the palate it is medium to full bodied with a firm, structured tannin, good natural acidity, and a long, savoury, mineral finish. Mencia from Bierzo at its most honest and compelling.
